62 day countdown begins
62 is this year’s magic number
I’m 62 years old and I’m going to attempt to run 62 Lake District peaks in a time of 62 hours…………
……………..and it all kicks off in 62 days’ time.
It’s well recognised that higher levels of physical activity are associated with lower levels of heart disease so while I’m training for my challenge I’d like to invite you to join me with your own version of 62 in whatever way you’d like. That could be 62 minutes walking or gardening every day, walk up 62 stairs or steps each day…..split the numbers and run or walk 6.2 Km or miles a day or a week – something that challenges you or gives you a goal and something that raises your heart rate. Share your challenge using the hashtag #62@62 – let’s see how inventive you are.
As I’m counting down these days I’ll be thinking and writing about all the reasons I’ve taken on this ginormous challenge and the things that I’ve learned on my running journey since I started 9 years ago. I’ve met so many amazing people along the way including the lady who introduced me to ultrarunning –she was 62 years old when she started running – how’s that for a coincidence. 62 – definitely a magic number.
